Full Service Moving - Complete packing, loading, transporting, unloading and unpacking services from professionals. Planning well in advance helps to secure the right company and to plan financially for your move. Start looking for a full service mover as soon as possible, or at least eight to ten weeks before your moving date. Be sure to ask if they give free estimates.and whether the estimate is binding. If the estimate is not binding, your final cost may be different. The following factors will determine your final cost:

  • Time of year: Expect to pay more during peak times, such as the summer or holidays.
  • Weight: The more stuff you have, the more it weighs. More weight means more fuel costs. Expect to pay accordingly.
  • Distance: Moving across the country or moving across town. Distance is a factor in your cost.
  • Packing: Movers are prepared to pack your entire house if you are unable to do it. It does add cost to your move and you must allow extra time. If you want to save money, pack as much as you can on your own, leaving only the hardest tasks for the movers.
  • Appliances: If you are uncomfortable with disconnecting your own appliances such as washers, dryers and icemakers, be sure to tell your movers ahead of time. Many movers will disconnect major appliances at your old home and reconnect them at your new home for an additional fee.
  • Staircases: Naturally, stairs add time and effort to a moving job. Expect to pay more if you have stairs.
  • Pianos and Clocks: Piano moving is an extra charge. Grandfather and Grandmother clocks may also be an extra charge. If your clock or piano is a valuable piece, consider a professional piano or clock mover instead of a general household mover.

Storage - Many times a move will involve storage, whether for an "in-between" time while you are looking for a new home, or just for those extra household goods that don't make it to the new home.
